Setup & requirements
What AI Calendar Buddy needs to run, and how to get calendars and AI features working.
What devices and OS versions does AI Calendar Buddy require?+
AI Calendar Buddy requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 or later. It's a native SwiftUI app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. An Apple Watch app is in development, coming after launch.
The app can't see my calendar events. How do I fix it?+
AI Calendar Buddy reads your calendars through Apple's EventKit framework, which requires calendar access permission. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars and grant AI Calendar Buddy full access. On Mac, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars. Once granted, the app can read any calendar that appears in your Apple Calendar app — iCloud, Google, Outlook, and Exchange. To add a Google or Outlook calendar, add the account in your device's Settings (not in AI Calendar Buddy) — there is no separate OAuth flow or API key setup.
AI features are unavailable on my device. Why?+
AI scheduling and natural-language task entry run on-device through Apple Intelligence, which requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later, or an Apple Silicon Mac, with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings. On devices that don't support Apple Intelligence, AI features are disabled but the rest of the app works normally — you can still create, schedule, and track tasks manually.
Troubleshooting
Common issues with scheduling, sync, and offline use — and what to check first.
Why didn't a task get scheduled automatically?+
A few things to check. First, the task needs remaining estimated time — if you've logged sessions covering its full estimate, there's nothing left to place. Second, the AI schedules within your working hours and around your existing calendar events, so a packed calendar or narrow working hours can leave no available slot. Third, a task you've partially completed (with logged work sessions) is intentionally not rescheduled automatically — your logged time is never moved or overwritten. Use the task's Re-schedule action to place the remaining time.
Sync between my devices isn't working or seems slow.+
Cross-device sync uses CloudKit, Apple's encrypted iCloud database, so every device must be signed in to the same iCloud account. Without an iCloud account, the app runs in local-only mode on a single device and does not sync. When iCloud is set up, sync is managed by iOS and macOS — changes from another device usually arrive within seconds but can occasionally take a few minutes. There is no manual force-sync button because Apple does not expose one to apps. If sync seems stuck, confirm iCloud is signed in on both devices and that the app is up to date, then contact us if it persists.
Does AI Calendar Buddy work offline?+
Yes. AI scheduling runs on-device through Apple Intelligence, so it does not require an internet connection. The app works fully offline on a single device; iCloud sync and updates from your external calendars resume when you're back online.
Your data & account
Where your data lives and how to remove it.
How do I delete my account or data?+
There is no AI Calendar Buddy account to delete — we don't operate a server-side database of your content. Your tasks and preferences live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private CloudKit database. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device; you can also remove the app's iCloud data from your iCloud storage settings. Your external calendar events are never modified — AI Calendar Buddy treats them as read-only. If you'd like help removing everything, email us and we'll walk you through it.
Is AI Calendar Buddy on the App Store yet?+
AI Calendar Buddy is currently in beta. The fastest way to get access is to join the waitlist at aicalendarbuddy.com/beta — it's free during the beta, and beta users will hear about launch plans first.
