Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about AI Calendar Buddy — how the on-device AI works, what calendars it reads, which Apple devices it runs on, and what beta means for pricing.

Product basics

What AI Calendar Buddy is, how it's different, and how the scheduling works.

What is AI Calendar Buddy?+

AI Calendar Buddy is a private AI-powered scheduling app where the AI runs entirely on your device. Built natively for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, it reads your existing calendars (including Apple Calendar), understands your working hours, and uses Apple Intelligence to place tasks into the best available time slots — no third-party AI, no CamSoftware servers. Cross-device sync uses Apple's end-to-end encrypted CloudKit.

How is this different from other AI calendar apps?+

Most AI calendar tools process your data on cloud servers using third-party AI models, require specific calendar providers (often excluding Apple Calendar), and bundle in project management, docs, or team features you may not need. AI Calendar Buddy takes the opposite approach: all AI runs on your device, it works with any calendar available through Apple's system (iCloud, Google, Outlook, Exchange), and it focuses on doing one thing well — intelligently scheduling your tasks around your real calendar.

How does the AI scheduling work?+

The app analyzes your calendar events, working hours, task priorities, and deadlines to find optimal time slots for each task. All AI processing runs on-device using Apple Intelligence — your schedule is never sent to a third-party AI model or to a CamSoftware server. When your calendar changes, the AI automatically re-optimizes your plan.

Can I describe tasks in natural language?+

Yes. Apple Intelligence task entry lets you type something like "Three 1-hour blocks for the launch next week" and the app creates the tickets, sized and ready to schedule. Natural-language parsing runs on-device.

Privacy & data

Where your data goes (or doesn't), and how on-device AI keeps your schedule yours.

Is my data private?+

Yes — and not the usual "we encrypt your data" version. We operate zero servers of our own. The AI runs on-device through Apple Intelligence, and cross-device sync uses Apple's end-to-end encrypted CloudKit (your private iCloud database, not ours). Unlike tools that route your schedule through OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, your information never touches a third-party AI model.

Does any of my schedule data leave my device?+

Only to sync between your own Apple devices via Apple's end-to-end encrypted CloudKit. CamSoftware doesn't run a backend that stores your tasks, calendar events, or schedules. There is no "our database" of your content.

Do you use OpenAI, Anthropic, or any third-party AI?+

No. All AI scheduling and natural-language parsing runs through Apple Intelligence on your device. Your schedule data never reaches a third-party AI provider.

Devices & platforms

Which Apple devices it runs on today, and what's planned next.

What devices does it support?+

The app launches on iPhone (iOS 26+), iPad (iPadOS 26+), and Mac (macOS 26+). It's built natively with SwiftUI and syncs across all your Apple devices via CloudKit. An Apple Watch app is in development. Android support is being explored based on demand.

Why Apple-only at launch?+

On-device AI requires tight hardware and software integration. Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad, and Mac gives us the on-device AI capabilities we need without sending your data to the cloud. Building natively with SwiftUI also means we can read every calendar on your device through EventKit — something web-based calendar tools can't do. We're exploring Android support based on demand.

Is there an Apple Watch app?+

An Apple Watch app and complications are in development. You can sign up for the beta now to be notified when watch support ships.

Will there be an Android app?+

We're exploring Android support based on demand. The fastest way to influence priority is to mention your devices when you join the waitlist.

Calendars & integrations

How AI Calendar Buddy connects to the calendars you already use.

What calendars does it work with?+

AI Calendar Buddy integrates with any calendar available through Apple's EventKit, which includes Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook. If it shows up in your Apple Calendar app, AI Calendar Buddy can read it.

Do I need to set up OAuth or API keys?+

No. Because we read calendars through Apple's EventKit, you connect Google or Outlook accounts the normal way in iOS or macOS Settings and AI Calendar Buddy picks them up automatically. No separate OAuth flow, no API keys.

Can AI Calendar Buddy modify my external calendars?+

External calendar events are treated as read-only — we never edit your Google, Outlook, or iCloud events directly. AI Calendar Buddy schedules your tasks around them inside its own data model.

Pricing & beta

Cost during beta, what happens at launch, and how to get early access.

How much does AI Calendar Buddy cost?+

AI Calendar Buddy is free during the beta. There's no credit card required and no time limit on the beta tier. Paid plans are being finalized for after launch and will be announced to beta users in advance.

Will I be charged when the beta ends?+

No. We won't auto-enroll anyone in a paid plan. When pricing is finalized, beta users will get advance notice and a chance to choose a plan — or stay on whatever free tier we offer post-launch.

Will there be a permanent free tier?+

Yes, we plan to keep a meaningful free tier so people can use AI Calendar Buddy without paying. The exact split between free and paid features is being decided based on beta feedback.

Why is the beta free?+

AI Calendar Buddy is still maturing and beta users are doing real work to shape it. Charging during the beta wouldn't be fair. We'll give beta users advance notice before paid plans go live.

Will pricing be more or less than competitors?+

Most AI calendar tools — Motion, Reclaim.ai, and Sunsama among them — require a paid subscription to use their AI scheduling features. Check each provider's pricing page for current details. AI Calendar Buddy's paid pricing is being finalized — we'll share details with beta users before any plans go live.

Is there a team plan?+

Not at launch. AI Calendar Buddy is solo-first today. If team features land later, team pricing will be introduced separately.

When will it be available?+

AI Calendar Buddy is currently in development with a beta launching soon. Sign up for the waitlist to get notified when early access opens.
